Women's Medium
Circumference: 7.75" (20 cm) unstretched
Yarn: 1 skein (330 yds/302 m) Baywood Yarns Luxury Sock & Shawl
Color: Summer Sunset
Needles: US 2.5 (3.0 mm)
32 sts/40 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in stockinette stitch
These socks are a pretty basic sock pattern made interesting by the lace work. I found the lace stitch in the
Vogue Stitchonary Volume One. The yarn used was hand dyed by Jo at Baywood Yarns and it is a dream to work with.
If you can get your hands on some I highly recommend using it, otherwise any sock yarn that gets gauge will work
as a substitute.

Chart:
Toe:
CO 14 sts (7 per side) using the Figure 8 cast on method. Work one round even and divide sts across 4 needles.
Increase Round: Needle 1 - K1, M1, K to end of needle; Needle 2 - K to last st on needle, M1, K1;
Needle 3 - K1, M1, K to end of needle; Needle 4 - K to last st on needle, M1, K1.
Continue working one Increase Round and one Even Round until there are 58 sts total.
Foot:
Needles 3 and 4 will be worked in stockinette all through the foot (K every stitch). The lace work will be across
Needles 1 and 2.
Work rounds 1-12 of Section 1 of the lace pattern as follows - [K5, work 3 repeats of the lace pattern for that round,
K3] for the odd rounds and K every stitch for the even rounds.
Next work rounds 1-12 of Section 2 of the lace pattern as follows - [K3, work 3 repeats of the lace pattern for that
round, K5] for the odd rounds and K every stitch for the even rounds.
Work Section 1 and 2 once more (for a total of 2 times each) and then Section 1 a third time. End on a Row 11.
Heel:
Work a short row heel decreasing until there are 7 sts left and then increasing back to 29 across Needles 3 and 4.
Knit one round even around all 4 needles.
Leg:
The lace work will now be worked across all 4 needles.
Work round 1 of Section 2 of the lace pattern as follows - [K3, work 8 repeats of the lace pattern for that
round, K2]. By doing this you'll notice that the last 3 stitches for this round are actually the first three
stitches of the next round. That's intentional, the beginning of the round has just shifted slightly. If you're
using a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round, place it after the last stitch just made.
K every stitch for round 2.
Work rounds 3-12 of Section 2 of the lace pattern as follows - [work 8 repeats of the lace pattern for that round, K2]
for the odd rounds and K every stitch for the even rounds.
Work rounds 1-12 of Section 1 of the lace pattern as follows - [K2, work 8 repeats of the lace pattern for that round]
for the odd rounds and K every stitch for the even rounds.
Work rounds 1-12 of Section 2 of the lace pattern as follows - [work 8 repeats of the lace pattern for that round, K2]
for the odd rounds and K every stitch for the even rounds.
Work Section 1 and 2 once more (for a total of 2 Section 1s and 3 section 2s).
Cuff:
K one round. Work a twisted rib, [Ktbl, P1] all around, for 6 rounds. Bind off using a stretchy bind off. I used
the Elizabeth Zimmerman bind off, but there are others out there.
