Happy New Year, Happy News!

This morning I crawled out of my happy holiday cave to brave work and another new year. I've spent the better part of the last two weeks disconnected. I had a crazy few days getting my house ready and my shopping done right before Christmas (not to mention all the last minute knitting). Then Grant's parents arrived and it was time for the fun to begin. I slept in (hooray for early bird grandparents that play with early bird babies), ate lots of yummy food, watched some TV, went out to see Christmas lights, knit and just generally had a wonderful time with family.

Ziggy's first Christmas was wonderful. He loved looking at all the lights on the houses. There is nothing cuter than hearing a baby ooh at something! He also had fun with his presents and is being spoiled rotten by all the attention from the grandparents. I'm not sure what we're going to do with him when they leave.

After Christmas we went south to see great-grandma. Since grandma has no internet and my cell was dead I didn't get to see many of my friends (as their phone numbers were trapped in my phone). But we did manage to sneak out to see Rich and Sara and Viv. It was awesome seeing the kids together. And they got Ziggy the cutest ride on rocket, I'll have to post pics when Grant gets them uploaded. On Sunday we wandered north. We spent a quiet New Year's Eve at home and watched the ball drop in our PJs.

Imagine my surprise when I get back to the world of the internet and have an email waiting for me from a friend of mine telling me she really liked my blanket pattern. Perplexed, as I didn't send her my pattern, I popped over to MagKnits to see what was up. Sure enough, my pattern was sitting there waiting for me.

As of Jan 1, 2008 I am now an officially published knitter! Woot! The Bliss Blanket in all its glory is out there for the world to knit. I've been dreaming of being published for a long time and was starting to wonder if MagKnits had forgotten me, but they hadn't. What a wonderful start to the new year!

I've got a variation on the pattern that I want to get out there too, it's going to go up on my new knitting site (www.scknits.com) just as soon as I get that site up and running. Which is now my big task with Grant for this weekend.
