Inspiration

I've been in a bit of a color rut around here lately. Seems like everything I've been working on is some shade of green (the camera cozy, the ballet tee, the dream swatch, Grant's sweater, the silk rhapsody scarf). Now, don't get me wrong, I like green, really the right shades of it are up there with red and brown in my book, but I'm tired of staring at it. As such I fell off my cast-on diet this week.

I cast on a red and black top (not sure if I'll keep it, it's my own design and just sort of an idea that's been rattling around my head), brown/orange/red/pink socks (not sure I like the cast-on) and most happily another pair of my gauntlets in Malabrigo. I made the originals in Lion and Lamb, but after a year I'm just not jazzed with the colorway. So I'm reknitting my own pattern in the gorgeous Sunset color in hopes it will photograph nicely and I can submit these for publication at long last.

Isn't this color just wonderful? I was inspired to take a detour from my usual colors and pick this up by Mel's post on her stunning handspun. I never use yellow or orange, and yet, here it is. I'm a rather happy camper with this one.

To answer Spinnity's questions on the photos - I'm not posting pictures of the blanket because I've submitted it for publication (a first for me) and as such I can't. HSD may also get submitted when it's done, so I don't want to post it yet either. All the others, I just have been too lazy to photograph. Isn't that a bit sad?

:) Oh YUM!!!!That looks gorgeous!! I'm not at all an orange person and I don't know how in the world I'd ever be able to wear something from that handspun!! (so it will likely be a gift!)

Good luck on your pattern submission - woo-hoo!

What a gorgeous orange! But I guess that reaction is to be expected from me... And good luck on publication! I've never had the guts to submit anything I've done, so you're braver than I am.

Well, a photo of yarn is a good start... And I ain't posted in two weeks.. so I guess we'll have to live with that. Still. Inquiring minds want to know.
