My Kingdom for Buttons
My Mommy Snug is almost done. I forced myself to sit and finish the last seam last night at Meetup, rather than knit. This is the first fitted and seamed sweater I've made for myself that is this close to completion (poor Mariah is fitted and seamed, but still waiting for that damn zipper). I've got to say, I'm pleased with the results. It's a hair too snug around my forearms, but it fits very well everywhere else. Such an odd place for a sweater to be snug. I think I may try a little extra love with the steam setting on my iron to see if I can't fix that problem spot.
The bigger problem is that I can't find buttons! It needs 12 of them. To be fair, Knitting Arts is the only place I've looked, but I haven't had time to check out anywhere else. So I now get to be mocked by this almost done sweater that I'm dying to wear as it sits and waits for me to find some free time to hit other shops in search of buttons. Maybe I'll just use some basic buttons for now and swap them later if I find nicer ones. Grumble.
Very shorts, simple and easy to understand, bet some more comments from your side would be great
For buttons.. you could try some vintage buttons from Three Beads and a Button in Cupertino - in the Mervyn's shopping center at De Anza and Steven's Creek. Knitting shops tend to run shy of "ordinary" buttons.
Sorry I missed meet-up last night, I'd have loved to see the mommy snug! Will you post a picture? Or wear/bring it to the next meetup?
I found this site and thought you might be able to find something: http://www.ascuteasabutton.com/. I haven't used them, but the site looks pretty comprehensive.
