Shh, I Have a Secret
Pal that is. 2 of them really. I'm doing the Knitty secret pal game and it's so much fun! I've got one pal that will be sending me things and I'm sending things to someone else. I'm so excited about it that I've already bought all the yarn type goodies for my pal, and they were only assigned on Friday.
I was able to do this because of the lovely day I had today. Spinnity and KnuKnitter and I decided we needed to go on a yarn crawl. We started with a delicious lunch at the Laurel Street Cafe, this great little French place in San Carlos. Then we went to Creative Hands and took advantage of their Christmas in July sale (yes, it is technically August). I got 2 yarns to make goodies for my secret pal (you'll have to wait until November to see them though, as that's when we reveal our pals) and enough of the Debbie Bliss Cashsoft, in a lovely dusty lavendar, to make myself a sweater.
After Creative Hands we went over the hill to Half Moon Bay and hit the lovely little store in downtown who's name escapes me. It was amazing! They had yarn brands I'd never heard of and lines from makers I had heard of that I did know they made. So many wonderful colors and fibers. Another yarn followed me home for my secret pal and, though I shouldn't have, I splurged and brought some alpaca home for me. Plymouth Baby Alpaca Brush in a varigated deep burgandy and tan.
I also found the perfect buttons there for Jake's blue jacket. So after getting home I finished seaming it and added the buttons. The jacket is now an official FO. I'll post pictures as soon as I take them.
All in all it was a lovely Saturday. I look forward to doing it again, we had a blast. Perhaps we'll stick to lunch and knitting the yarns we've purchased though, as I'm not sure my poor Visa is ready for another yarn crawl.
Ah, yes, that pesky Visa bill. I am now rolling in yarn and I love it!
Had a great time Saturday! The shop in Half Moon Bay is called Fengari. Quite, quite jealous that you are done with your baby Jake sweater! Rock on!
